postcard design “Göttinger Gänseliesel”
The creating process

The Gänseliesel is one of the famous landmarks in Göttingen. Therefore, it was a very good motif for my greeting postcard.
If you would like to find out more about the Gänseliesel, you can find more information here.
For this postacard design “Göttinger Gänseliesel” I first created a hand drawing on paper to roughly determine the shape and colors.
The following sketch is still a first draft.
Then I scanned this version and processed it with Photoshop.
I adjusted the colors, optimized the lines and added the lettering.
Incidentally, I like the fact that the lines are partially doubled, because in my opinion that gives it such a nice hand drawn character
and also makes the drawing appear more relaxed.
The title in this picture above is still one of the first versions of lettering.
After a few more attempts, I found the correct writing and arrangement.
When the illustration and layout were ready, I saved it in the appropriate file formats jpg, png and pdf.
In my experience, saving multiple file formats is highly recommended,
as the illustration will later be used for different purposes like e.g. print, web view or others.
Then I send the design data to a printing company (“Moo”, you can visit it here) and received the finished postcards a few days later. Yeah! 🙂
I´ve been very happy about it.
I hope you enjoyed the little insight into my way of working.
If you want to know more about it, please write me in the comments or send me an email.
See you soon… Caro
